night & day difference

The old Yukon Conservation Society, with drab & out-of-date design and colours that didn't translate the organization's values or emphasize their work. The new brand that I worked with the organization to develop, which better translated a modern, impactful, and professional feel while retaining their legacy as a grassroots non-profit organization. The impact of SEO-focused design and strategies on the number of website visitors to the Yukon Conservation Society's website.

the Design process

This was the big part of this project. The previous website was in rough shape and hadn't had an update since their last web designer had run away on them.

I started from the ground up, fully redesigning the theme & aesthetic while working with the organization to breathe their values & mission into the end product.

Particular emphasis was placed on showcasing the organization's beautiful photography.

branding work

"It's old & ugly".

That was how the previous branding was described to me. The font was stock and static, the colour palette lacking a certain 'pop'.

In addition to fixing these problems, I also worked to define a clear theme across the website that reflected the organization's storied history and legacy while signaling its next moves into an established non-profit.

SEO strategy

As a non-profit focused on important conservation issues in Canada's north, getting a steady stream of eyeballs on the issues they were highlighting (as well as funders) was one of the key points of the web redesign.

After implementing SEO-focused design, site health improved by +22 points & monthly traffic to the website increased by more than 42%.
